RWTH Chair of Computer Science Presents at "gamescom" Computer Game Fair
The Chair of Computer Science 8, Computer Graphics and Multimedia, are presenting at the "gamescom" computer game fair in Cologne. The goal is to inform school students about computer science studies at RWTH Aachen. RWTH scientists and student employees will be present from August 21 to 25, 2013, in Hall 10.1, booth E-060a, Messeplatz 1 in Cologne. "Positive feedback from previous years has shown us that there is great interest in entering the gaming industry this way," said Univ.-Prof. Dr. Leif Kobbelt, Chair of Computer Science 8.
Students interested in computer graphics and multimedia applications can specialize in these fields at RWTH Aachen early on. Aside from the "classical" fields such as automobiles, architecture, software development, simulation, or medical technology, students are expressing an increased desire to work in the gaming and entertainment industry. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Leif Kobbelt: "The techniques and graphic effects of computer games are identical with those of other graphic-heavy applications. Graduates of computer science can thus work both in and outside of the gaming industry. Students are also incredibly motivated by game development, which contributes to improvements in teaching." RWTH students have already developed numerous games. Examples will be introduced at gamescom.
