Gas Liquefaction Plants

Liquid helium and liquid nitrogen are often used in low temperature experiments. The Institute of Physics II operates a helium recovery system, a helium liquefactionsystem, and two nitrogen liquefaction systems for the affordable supply of these liquid gases. These services are available to all RWTH institutes within the available infrastructure, particularly the recovery supply, and capacities. The institutes of the Departments of Physics and Chemistry are currently primarily being supplied. A portion of the costs of the helium liquefaction is apportioned based on use.
