PhD and Postdoc positions available in Condensed Matter Theory
Theoretical condensed matter physics is a very active field at the physics department of RWTH Aachen. Our research focuses on interaction and interference effects in low-dimensional electron systems, such as quantum dots and wires, mesoscopic cavities and rings. Currently we are mainly working on transport properties of such systems out of equilibrium. Within the framework of the Institute for Theoretical Physics at RWTH Aachen a wide ranged platform for research activities in mesoscopic physics, spintronics, molecular electronics, quantum field theory and renormalization group in non-equilibrium, strongly correlated systems, and cold atoms is provided.
Candidates should be highly motivated and have a strong background in theoretical condensed matter physics, in particular in mesoscopic physics or strongly correlated electron systems. They should be familiar with techniques of quantum many-body physics and interested in developing new approaches.
The postdoc positions are initially offered for one or two years with a possible extension. The PhD student positions typically run for three years.
