Most of our printers are accessible via a CUPS-Printserver lxtspr1. There are some printers locally attached to a single system and therefore not available to public.

There is a (local) Webinterface to CUPS to check the state of the installed printers.

A small shell script lpq-all ( complete path /usr/local/bin/lpq-all) shows the status of the installed printers. The option "-loop" refreshes the status every 30 seconds.

All printer queues have been duplicated on a second print server lxtssp1 with an additional prefix "z-". So in case a queue e.g. lpthp2 on the main printserver should fail You may try the corresponding queue z-lpthp2.

Accessing the printers from a notebook: The publicly available printers are not directly accessible but must be addressed via the printer queues on the CUPS-printservers lxtspr1 (IP 134.61.10.7) und lxtssp1 (IP 134.61.10.8).
In case the system does not find the CUPS-printserver automatically, You may establish an IPP-connection to the printer queue lpthp1-d manually by
ipp://134.61.10.7:631/printers/lpthp1-d
for Linux and Mac OS X or
http://134.61.10.7:631/printers/lpthp1-d
for Windows (replace lpthp1-d by the appropriate queue name).
